For the past few days, rumors have suggested that WWE interviewer and host Charly Caruso has gotten significant backstage heat as of late, hence her recent removal from the Raw Talk post-show. This, apparently, was driven by her tardiness for interviews with some of the company’s bigger stars, including former world champions Randy Orton and Sheamus.
While she has yet to provide comment on the reports, the most recent update on her situation suggests that WWE might have already fired her.
Caruso Reportedly ‘Gone’ From WWE
As quoted on Sunday by Ringside News, Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that based on what he’s heard, Caruso is effectively “gone” from the promotion.
“I’ve heard she was fired and I’ve heard that they’re not going to use her and they’re waiting for her contract to be out. I don’t know which one of those is accurate, but you know she had too much heat with too many different people and that was the story. That’s why the new guy was brought in to replace her.”
Caruso’s Departure Was Alluded To On ‘Talking Smack’
Aside from the persistent rumors regarding her future with WWE, Caruso’s apparent heat with Orton, Sheamus, and other people within the promotion was alluded to on last week’s Talking Smack — Friday Night SmackDown’s equivalent to Raw Talk as a post-show.
As quoted in an earlier report from Ringside News, Paul Heyman seemed to throw some shade at Caruso when he was blasting co-host Kayla Braxton for having difficulty introducing their guest for the night, Apollo Crews.
“Ladies and gentlemen… we got rid of the wrong female journalist around here.”
Multiple People Have Replaced Caruso In Her Different Roles
According to Sportskeeda, WWE seems to have assigned new roles to certain on-air personalities, further adding fuel to the rumors that Caruso might be on her way out of the company.
Kevin Patrick — the “new guy” Meltzer referred to in his recent update — was reportedly brought in as a “direct replacement” for Caruso on Raw Talk. Additionally, Braxton and Sarah Schreiber have started appearing on Monday Night Raw and handling backstage interviews on the red brand, on top of their other on-air duties.
Other Talents Who May Be On The Way Out
Caruso isn’t the only WWE talent who has been rumored in recent weeks to be leaving the company soon. As reported earlier this month by Wrestling Inc., FTR member Dax Harwood (formerly Scott Dawson in WWE) posted a pair of tweets where he seemed to be inviting Chad Gable to join him in AEW once his contract expires. Although he and Otis are enjoying additional exposure on the blue brand thanks to their recent heel turn, Gable has often been described as one of WWE’s more underutilized in-ring talents.
