CIBC – First in iPhone Apps in Canada
February 3, 2010 – 2:09 amCIBC, took one step ahead of all the other major banks in Canada and proudly announced their launch of the CIBC iPhone app this afternoon. The iPhone app is now available online the iTunesApp Store. Recognizing the mobility needs of people today and advances in technology, CIBC is first on the scene in the Canadian banking industry to meet these needs.
CIBC has responded to client demands for greater flexibility and mobility in their banking requirements. Clients can now do their banking from wherever they are, whether at the kids’ hockey arena, in the coffee shop, shopping or travelling. Account balances, transfer funds, paying bills and even sending INTERAC Email Money Transfers can now be done on their iPhone or iPod adding mobility and convenience to banking.
Sonia Baxendale, President of CIBC Retail Markets said “CIBC is proud to be the first major bank in Canada to offer our clients a Mobile Banking App to make banking with CIBC even more flexible on their iPhone.” She added, “our clients told us they want more flexibility to bank however and whenever they want and we’ve responded,” said Baxendale. “In addition to making day-to-day banking more flexible, clients can now use their iPhone to quickly find their nearest CIBC branch or ABM. CIBC’s Mobile Banking App uses GPS technology to help customers locate their nearest ABM or branch.
Global Finance have awarded CIBC “Best Consumer Internet Bank” for their online banking website. In the upcoming months, customers will be seeing enhancements to CIBC’s mobile banking application.
The iPod app can be downloaded for free at the itunes.com/appstore/. Clients will be able to use their credit card, debit card and banking password to access their accounts from their iPhone or iPod.
