January 11, 2010 – 10:55 pm

Viagra has been a top seller in the North American market for more than a decade but its looks like there is a formidable competitor. Vivus, a small biotech firm, has just announced that they plan to release a new drug for erectile failure called, avanafil. This drug can generate an erection in just 15 minutes, which is a lot faster than either Cialis or Viagra.

Said Leland Wilson the company CEO, “The magnitude of success in the first 15 minutes was surprising. This new data further strengthens the profile and differentiation of avanafil from other currently available oral ED therapies.”

Avanafil is said to work in most men who have erectile failure and works a lot faster and lasts a lot longer. The company is set to make the drug available on the market by 2012.

Viagra has to be taken 45 minutes prior to intercourse and cialis has to be taken 30 minutes prior to any anticipated sexual activity. Levitra is said to work between 30-60 minutes.

At present the market for individuals with erectile dysfunction is huge- close to 322 million worldwide and millions more remain undiagnosed for fear of embarrassment.

The side effects of the drug have not been assessed but in any case, the drug won’t come cheap. So start saving your money if you want to want to have a satisfying sex life 2 years from now.
